Schedule: Monday – Friday; 1 Saturday per month

Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining all plant equipment, buildings and grounds in optimum working order.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and operational manufacturing tasks, performing typical and routine tasks to support the production, distribution and packaging departments. While this person is required to perform basic welding, electrical, fabricating and mechanical duties, they must also be able to make decisions on recommendation to contact and schedule vendors and contractors for necessary building repairs and emergencies that are outside the scope of routine maintenance.
The Maintenance Technician is also responsible for implementing the preventative maintenance program with the assistance of the Maintenance Supervisor. This person is responsible for taking care of work instructions and/or any unexpected maintenance that may occur during the day. All maintenance is conducted while maintaining food safety and quality.
- Provides emergency/ unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Performs necessary skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, welding, steam and water piping, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production equipment.
- Complies with OSHA safety rules.
- Maintains facility building and outside property
- Ensure sanitation, safety, GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality policies and procedures are followed.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- When necessary, works with line leads in teaching or training routine maintenance functions.
- Maintains a schedule of when maintenance has been performed and when the next service is due.
- Complies with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by appropriate plant procedures.
- Complies with all Safety Rules and Policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Must be reliable and able to troubleshoot and work independently.
- Must be organized, have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and takes the initiative to get things done.
- Documents maintenance duties and provides required reports.
- Performs any other tasks assigned and effectively communicates with others to support and improve the overall team operations.
Position Requirements:
- Prior maintenance experience and skills, along with hands on experience with machine breakdowns and troubleshooting problems.
- Ability to exhibit a positive image and professionalism to customers and co-workers.
- Quality experience including final inspection, preventative maintenance and blue print reading.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Be able to lift at least a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must have proven, reliable work history with references; attendance and punctuality.
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies.
- Must be able to verbally communicate, understand and write in the English language.
- Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments and regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and listen.
