Detailed Description:The Program Coordinator leads and manages student success and transition support initiatives including early intervention and outreach at critical points during the undergraduate student lifecycle. Serve as the initial point of contact for leave of absence and withdrawal requests for undergraduate students. Manage the process and communication with students. Establish and provide ongoing, inclusive, and collaborative outreach to support students throughout various transitions while at the University. Supervise and lead student staff to create and foster a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging space in the Center for Student Success.
Serves as the first point of contact with visitors calling or visiting the office when student support staff are not available. Periodically, this position may be asked to lead or contribute to either ad hoc or ongoing division/campus projects outside the scope of their day-to-day activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Center for Student Success Initiatives
- Provide oversight and direction for CSS student success and transition support initiatives including:
- Early Intervention and Outreach – Coordinate early intervention and outreach efforts among colleagues across the institution to support students identified as needing additional support to succeed at USD.
- Mid-term - Oversee implementation of individual outreach effort in the fall and spring semesters to undergraduate students receiving two or more mid-term deficiencies to support student success
- Course Registration - Direct administrative effort to identify institutional barriers and/or individual student circumstances preventing undergraduate students from registering for classes in the Fall and Spring semesters
- Convene an activity-based team with members from Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Torero Hub, Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, Knauss School of Business, International Center, Student Support Services, Residential Life, and Athletics regarding course registration
- Oversee distribution of data and request inquiry regarding the individual circumstances of students who have not registered for classes for the subsequent semester
- Direct review of individual students who have not registered with activity-based team members to design and conduct outreach to support students in registering for courses
- End of Semester (Fall and Spring) – Coordinate outreach to students identified as carrying a less than full time courseload
- Student Success Workshops – Institutional partnership with College of Arts & Sciences, Knauss School of Business, and Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering to serve all
