Brief team/department description:

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the design, development, and operationalization of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that directly drive commercial impact. This role will serve as the scientific and technical thought leader across a portfolio of AI and causal inference models powering Azurity’s field sales, omnichannel marketing, and strategic account strategies.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on contributor and technical team leader with deep expertise in causal machine learning, statistical modeling, and real-world data analysis. You will work in close partnership with data engineering, business strategy, field operations, and executive stakeholders to translate business objectives into deployable, scalable models that optimize brand performance and patient access.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end model development lifecycle for causal inference and machine learning use cases that inform HCP engagement, marketing targeting, pharmacy optimization, and strategic account prioritization.
• Mentor and lead other data scientists, elevating team technical standards and project delivery rigor.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, and Strategy leaders to understand business problems and translate them into model-based solutions.
• Design and deploy experiments, uplift modeling, and counterfactual frameworks to estimate true business impact.
• Contribute to model governance and reproducibility, including documentation, versioning, and code modularization using tools like Git, DBT, and ML pipelines.
• Influence platform and tooling decisions, particularly around cloud infrastructure, MLOps, and data transformation best practices.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• PhD or MS in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Math, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in applied data science or ML roles, with recent experience in life sciences or commercial analytics strongly preferred
• Expert in causal inference, un-/supervised learning, experimental design, uplift modeling, Bayesian methods, etc.
• Strong coding skills in Python, SQL, Git, and proficiency in data environments such as Snowflake, Foundry, or equivalent
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and deliver through ambiguity
