Summary of Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial reporting from a management perspective for the IB&F, GTB and Global Markets (GM) USA business units and support CIB USA Management in the implementation of BBVA’s business model. Special focus will be needed in the Expense area, including monitoring, forecasting and budgeting of CIB USA’s expense.
BBVA works as a global institution, and therefore we recognize the need for standard working practices, information and management systems, accounting results criteria and communication between different banking departments. The main objective of the department is to support the Head of Management Reporting by implementing these practices and systems in the unit.
List Major/Essential Job Duties:
Management information:
- P&L weekly dashboard preparation for CIB USA
- Investigate and resolve large and inconsistent P&L variances between management reporting and accounting system, reconciling all discrepancies down to an immaterial amount to ensure accurate P&L.
- Daily interaction across multi-disciplinary teams including: Accounting, LOBs, Head Office, etc., to investigate and resolve different discrepancies.
- Assist in controlling BBVA’s internal results recognition models, and for implementation of local and cross-border, cross-sell agreements (transfer pricing).
- Assist in deliver strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and forecasts to the Head of Management Reporting
- Analyze and understand financial markets and financial products valuations
- Provide cost reports to each LOBs explaining any relevant differences vs budget or prior periods
- Support the Head of Management reporting with the budget preparation
- Coordinate with the Accounting and Procurement teams the monitoring of expenses at a vendor level as well as for T&E expenses
Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:
As a Finance team member, responsible for monitoring P&L for CIB USA unit, the position requires thorough knowledge of capital markets products (Lending, Transactional Banking and Global Markets), as he/she needs to understand how the CIB business operates and its impacts to the P&L. A dynamic knowledge of capital markets and its effects on P&L is required. This position is highly exposed to accounting and management systems, as well as Microsoft and SQL software. In this way, the candidate has to be knowledgeable of systems. Important to note that this is a sensitive position as it handles P&L and confidential data. It also requires active coordination with all geographies where BBVA USA has business, and the coordination of cross-border bookings and governance.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities/Competencies:
- Bachelors in Finance, Economics, Business or Accounting.
- 10+ years of experience in the Financial industry (Banking preferred), with knowledge of financial markets, capital markets products and financial analysis.
- Deep knowledge of budgeting processes with special focus on Cost Management
- Knowledge of Capital Markets products.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL.
- Experience working in a global, multicultural and/or international environment.
- Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate analytical/problem-solving skills
- Must be a quick learner, self-motivated and a team player
- Ability to learn new financial software or comfortable in dealing with systems.

With respect to this position in our Houston Office, the expected base salary ranges from $110,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
