About the role

NextGen Federal Systems, LLC (NextGen) is seeking a proactive, experienced, and entrepreneurial professional for the role of Senior Program Manager (Senior PM) / Director supporting Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) programs. This position provides an important leadership role serving a diverse portfolio of programs and projects that deliver software/IT solutions and technical services. Successful candidates need to thrive in a fast-paced environment, wear multiple hats, and be driven by strong growth potential within a highly competitive market. Must be a self-starting, high-energy leader focused on delivering results as well as promoting strong employee and customer engagement. Responsibilities span managing and growing the business, as well as staff professional growth, to further advance the business. Significant customer-facing interaction is expected to sustain current business and to position the company to win new business. As a leader in the company, the Senior PM / Director reports to a Division Manager and regularly collaborates with the executive and senior management staff for the overall growth and benefit of the company. 

 

Travel: Up to 15% travel to customer, program, staff, and NextGen locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day business and related operations of program/project teams and staff, including hiring and training of employees; delivering solutions and services to customers; managing contractual and financial aspects of the business portfolio; pursuing new business opportunities; managing program execution; and resolving project, organization, and staff challenges and issues.
  • Connect with local-area Business community by networking and attending relevant events; use the networking opportunities to improve NextGen's marketing, relationships with partners, improving our profile within the local area, and report on the activities on a regular basis.
  • Direct, manage, and grow business commitments for all customer, employee, program, financial, and new business short- and long-range strategies.
  • Proactively build and leverage relationships with other company managers, staff, and corporate functional support to collaborate across the company for optimal program and company success.
  • Develop Win-Win teaming relationships and partnerships with other organizations and companies.
  • Engage in strategic thinking and planning by understanding the “big picture” from the technological and business case perspectives for both new and existing market initiatives.
  • Increase market share in current and create new capabilities in new and tangent industry market areas.
  • Make thoughtful, systematic decisions and act accordingly; work under pressure; get input and build consensus; make unpopular decisions; and consider the impact of decisions.

Qualifications

  • Program management, capture management, and proposal development.
  • Manage multiple contract types (e.g., CPFF, T&M, FFP, etc.).
  • Establish objectives, plans, and budgets for the programs, and projects.
  • Manage the operational, financial, and technical performance of programs and projects.
  • Identify, capture, and win profitable business opportunities, in coordination with business development staff
  • Support proposal win strategy development and risk assessment; contribute to writing and editing of proposals.
  • Increase business base by growing organically and promoting direct labor on existing programs.
  • Employ and utilize corporate processes across the organization; demonstrate improved efficiencies based on process improvement; support the development and improvement of processes.
  • Represent the company across industry, partners, as well as internally with staff; communicate corporate capabilities, value, and excitement.
  • Additional required qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • 8+ years operations and/or program management experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including:
      • Progressive success leading an organization in growth, continuous improvement, and change.
      • Track record and success in growing and developing organizations across technical services, solutions, and/or software systems programs with annual revenue of $5-15M+.
      • Experience and ability to interact with senior-level customers, achieving high levels of customer intimacy and collaboration.
