Contract, Accounts Payable Specialist

Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. Currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join the accounting team. The Accounts Payable Specialist needs to be a self-motivated team player that can multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. This candidate must be reliable, organized, detail oriented, possess a strong work ethic and be able to effectively communicate with our customers who are vendors, outside consultants and employees. This role involves managing vendor relationships, high-volume AP invoice processing, reconciling statements, and ensuring all payments are made in a timely and accurate manner. Lastly, this candidate must be able to recognize and solve problems that may arise.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, entering (Oracle system matching), processing and managing all invoices received daily and ensure proper department, general ledger coding and then route for approval.
• Request and review vendor statements and work directly with vendors to evaluate and reconcile vendor statements and manage and resolve discrepancies and respond to inquiries, including questions on PO’s and payments.
• Manage and clean out AP mailbox daily and respond to inquiries and resolve discrepancies on past due invoices in a timely manner. 
• Research and resolve system discrepancies and issues related to invoices (including invoices on holds), payments, and credit memos.
• Monitor and review customer accounts in Oracle to ensure payments are up to date.
• Understand Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements to maintain appropriate documentation and assist with financial audits.
• Assists with year-end 1099 preparation.
• Special projects, other accounting/finance responsibilities and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 - 7 years Accounts Payable experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Oracle accounts payable system experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills required (will be communicating directly with internal and external business partners)

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.

Salary Pay Range$40—$50 USD
