The Opportunity

Our Michigan Area team is expanding to support the growing demands of our Natural Gas compression, measurement, and regulation facilities.  We’re seeking an Electrical Instrumentation, Controls & Measurement Technician with strong troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational skills in natural gas compressor station control systems and measurement equipment to join us in maintaining and optimizing our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor stations, meter stations, communication systems, and related pipeline facilities

Perform routine and major maintenance on natural gas-driven turbine units and auxiliary equipment

Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

Maintain power systems, process controls, PLCs, electric generation equipment, microwave multiplex systems, and orifice meters

Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation

Diagnose and correct system malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools

Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components

Inspect electrical systems and components for hazards, defects, and compliance with code

Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes

Lead and perform installation, start-up, and repair of measurement and regulation equipment including meters, gauges, flow computers, LCEM units, transmitters, relief valves, regulators, valve actuators, controllers, filtration devices, odorizers, and gas quality devices

Conduct diagnostic tests, calibrations, and replacements using tools like Hart Communicator and Fluke meter

Maintain records for DOT inspections, calibrations, odorant tests, equipment changes, relief valve tests, and gas quality analyses

Manage technical documentation and serve as the facility’s technical resource

Collaborate with field personnel, project teams, and gas controllers to coordinate gas handling tasks during maintenance or emergency repairs

Locate pipelines via One Call center and perform valve maintenance

Conduct hydrostatic tests to ensure material integrity

Use SAP to manage work orders and job plans

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Relevant industry experience

Strong understanding of Stop Work Authority (SWA) and safe work practices

Familiarity with Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures

Basic engine mechanics knowledge

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree with coursework in engine maintenance or Electricity/electronics

Experience with Allen Bradley and/or Bristol control systems

Proficiency with control system test equipment

Experience with pneumatic/electronic valves, transmitters, switches, and regulators

Familiarity with gas measurement testing equipment

Ability to interpret technical reference materials

Expertise in Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC)

Willingness to learn measurement systems

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing

Availability to support 24/7 on-call rotation and extended work periods for emergency response

Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (overnight stays may be required)

Ability to work in adverse weather, extreme temperatures, and confined spaces

Driving is an essential function of this role. Motor vehicle records will be reviewed following a conditional offer of employment.
