The Protected Communications Systems (PCS) Hardware Department within the Collins Mission Systems organization has an exciting opportunity for a Hardware (HW) Engineering Lead and Technical Staff Section Manager to join our team.
This position is for an Associate Director Engineering Manager to manage the HW Leads and Technical Staff Section within the Protected Communications Systems Hardware Department. In addition to the section manager role, the person selected for this position will also own program execution excellence for the HW department.
What You Will Do
• Lead approximately 12 HW Lead engineers and HW Technical Staff (Electrical/FW/Dig/Power/RF and Mechanical)
• Review performance and career development of all members of the section
• Perform Key roles on programs and perform special assignments as needed
• Review program bids, baselines, EACs, LREs ensuring they are appropriate to the program phase and support customer mission needs
• Review engineering execution risk mitigations and opportunity capture plans, ensure alignment to work being performed
• Coordinate with HW engineering leads and managers to support outstanding program execution, metrics collection, analysis and reporting, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels that enable product delivery that is on-time, on-budget and meets the customer’s needs
• Foster leadership growth within the organization by mentoring and supporting HW Engineering Leads
• Identify, implement, and champion process improvements across the HW engineering organization to enhance productivity and collaboration
• Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
• Act on behalf of HW Department Manager on an as needed basis
• Leverage exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with engineering leaders, articulating program execution improvement initiatives with clarity and insight, ensuring alignment and driving informed decision-making
Qualifications You Must Have
• Ability to lead teams from proposal to product concept definition to production
• Ability to interact productively with other team members across various disciplines, including systems engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management
• Ability to perform as a change agent
• Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reporting, multiple portfolios and/or programs preferred
• Experience as an engineering leader hiring and performance management of teams
• Experience in bid and proposal development and project planning, multiple portfolios and/or programs preferred
• Ability to navigate interpersonal and organizational conflicts, fostering collaboration and resolving issues constructively
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
• ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance or HIGHER REQUIRED
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
• 10+ years of experience in Lead roles on Development programs
• Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications
• Able to identify and communicate technical issues and risks that may impact cost, schedule, or other aspects of product design
• Experience as an IPT/CPT Lead
• Certified and professional exposure to EVMS or similar budget tracking system
• Excellent presentation and technical writing skills
• Experience in a product data management environment (PTC Windchill)
• Experience with RTX policies and processes
