Position Specific Summary
The Pools Supervisor position at the City of Tucson's Parks and Recreation Department oversees the delivery of quality swimming programs and is responsible for the water quality of pools and the cleanliness of all pools and associated facilities.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Aquatics Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over non-permanent aquatics division personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily operations of assigned pool and splash pad facilities by maintaining schedules, providing training, evaluating employee performance, identifying performance issues and potential resolutions, and assisting with employee development. Participates in the recruitment, training, and hiring of non-permanent aquatics division personnel. Conducts swim test requirements as a part of the lifeguard recruitment process.
- Monitors and enforces compliance with rules and regulations related to provision of swimming pool safety and aquatic recreational activities and services. Ensures facilities meet cleanliness and safety standards.
- Oversees the delivery quality swimming programs, including swimming lessons, swim teams, and synchronized swim teams. Organize and schedule aquatic recreation activities such as swimming lessons, lifeguard services, and special events. Establishes schedules and methods for aquatic recreation activities and implements swimming pool facility policies and procedures.
- Requisitions swimming pool supplies and equipment; submit requests for budget items; assist in budget planning and controlling expenditures
- Maintains records and develop reports concerning pool operations and aquatic recreation activities.
- Answers questions and provides information to the public; investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
- Maintains Starguard Portal for staff records and work within scheduling program, Digiquatics.
- Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; Assists with pool rentals by providing customer service, collecting payments, scheduling, and verifying insurance.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.
