About You and this role
This is a position for an entry-level or early career Engineer. You are a Civil Engineer that will work on both Project and Plant Support for civil and structural tasks. You focus on safety in your designs and while at project sites and enjoy working on a team.
You have a technical knowledge base and demonstrate competencies in initiative, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal effectiveness. You will provide technical support and solutions for Project Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams.
In the technical capacity, at this level, you are primarily involved in application of technology and engineering fundamentals. You will assist in technical problem solving within the civil and structural disciplines to deliver value for Dow. You will participate on regional teams to continuously improve most effective technology (MET) and best practices and also provide timely responses for short-term technical requests.
In the project capacity, you will learn and apply Global Project Methodology (GPM), awareness of and when to implement Most-Effective Technology (MET), utilize discipline-specific work processes & associated best practices to deliver safe, cost effective and efficient solutions that meet the business opportunity plan for small, intermediate, and large projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform Civil and Structural engineering analysis, or work with local network as-needed to complete engineering deliverables.
- Develop Civil & Structural engineering project scope and prepare documents for bid and construction.
- Collaborates with designers for technical work package development and support implementation.
- Coordinate designs across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Support construction activities with design clarifications or technical support.
- Prioritize and ensure timely decision making when immediate design changes are necessary (i.e. during a Turnaround).
- Ensures safety in design.
- Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
- Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
- 2 or more years of industry experience preferred.

- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
Experience through projects, co-ops, or prior employment relating to engineering, manufacturing or other industrial setting.
- Structural experience / emphasis.
- PE licensure or progress towards PE.
- Experience with structural analysis software.
- Technical Proficiency: A strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, including the ability to design and analyze structures effectively.
