About the role

Summary:  Oversee inspection of parts and metal castings, for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensure that all parts are inspected properly in accordance with current inspection procedures, work instructions, and protocols including CMM/PCMM programming and editing.                   

Assist QC inspectors to make the correct decisions concerning non-conforming parts.

Support the mission of the quality department.                                       

Participate in inspection activities and trouble shoot non-conforming results.                     

Ensure that scrap parts and parts requiring rework are handled properly and are taken to the appropriate locations.

Keep up on the proper measuring techniques, and assist inspectors when needed.  Look for and implement ideas that can improve efficiency without compromising the quality of the inspection task.

Ensure all quality documentation has been done correctly and is filed properly, including NCARs, inspection reports, supplier documentation, etc.

Verify nonconforming parts, look for ways to double check and “prove up” nonconforming sizes and document them effectively on NCARs so that they are easily interpreted and understood.

                     

Help make quality decisions on non-conforming or questionable parts coming through.  

Call upon Quality Manager, Quality Engineers, and Design Engineers when necessary.

Conservatively use past engineering decisions as a basis for future ones.

Show continual improvement of product application knowledge.

             

Ensure that a proper schedule of work is followed.

Follow the inspection priority strategy outlined by the Quality Manager

Be alert to e-mails from the production planner, sales desk, or production control concerning overrides to the schedule.

                  

Keep track of department employees’ time in accordance to the AOD time tracking system.

Set employees work schedule and working hours needed to accomplish production goals.

Schedule vacation days and personal days off, while maintaining an adequate workforce to handle daily workload.

Monitor workload trends and needs, request help when needed.

                     

Evaluate employee’s performance

Monitor employee’s performance.

Make request for pay raises for employees based on overall job performance.

Review evaluation with employee, make suggestions for improvement, and praise for their accomplishments.

Focus on improving the employee through sound communication and feedback. (Servant leadership)

             

Communication to employees, Support decisions made by Pekin Operations management, and see to it that all employees under your supervision have been properly communicated to concerning all management decisions concerning them, or the company as a whole.

                    

Maintain good working relationships with all departments within EFM

Have a professional and positive attitude toward all Pekin Operations employees.

Strive to make everyone feel like they are part of the Pekin Operations team.                                                                                                                     

    

Training

Be alert to training needs within the department, and recommend in-house, or outside training, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                              

Directly supervises the employees in the Inspection Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
