What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Translate and establish Scout brand promise, strategy, and design language into world class In-Vehicle and mobile app user interface visuals design (UI).
- Work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce a brand’s voice through Scout vehicle visual touchpoints.
- Weave pleasant iconography, typography, color, shapes, and texture together to help our users successfully navigate our interfaces.
- Conceptualize ideas into graphics and using industry standard design, 2D and 3D software.
- Collaborate with designers and design leadership to develop our visual language and apply it across the many surfaces of our products.
- Create and organize production assets, design system and maintain the production pipeline.
- Ensure assets are consistent and compatible across various screens and devices.
- Work with a component library.
- Develop mood boards and color studies.
- Work closely and iteratively with developers to ensure design accuracy and consistency throughout the creative process.
- Work on marketing items, presentation materials and interactive event materials.
- Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will be based at our office in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Here’s what else you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in UX design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience as a professional visual user interface designer.
- Portfolio demonstrating confident interactive visual design skills, motion is a plus.
- Solid knowledge in Figma, Adobe Suite.
- Solid foundation in design, layout and typography.
- Experience with automotive specific HMI design, instrument cluster, head unit, and other in-vehicle experience design is a plus.
- Exceptional sense of visual design, a passion for beautiful user interfaces, and a clear interest in interaction design using emerging technologies and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with transitions, animation, motion design and dynamic interactions.
- Excellent visual, written and verbal communication skills, along with presentation and negotiation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to visually communicate your ideas via sketches and storyboards, motion sketches, etc. working in Low-Fi to High-Fi.
- Ability to know when to positively take direction and work both collaboratively and solo.
- Passion about design and technology trends.
