AmeriHome, a fast-growing mortgage company, is seeking to fill the role of Head of Transaction Management in our Westlake Village HQ office. The Capital Markets group is responsible for the pricing, hedging, trading, and delivery of the company’s mortgage loans to investors. The Head of Transaction Management will be responsible for overseeing a staff of Transaction Managers processing whole loan sales and mortgage servicing rights sales to third party investors and will be given the unique opportunity to interact with all departments of the company. Through this role, the candidate will not only interact with various internal and external counterparts but will also be responsible for developing team members, design and implement process improvements, play a key role in contributing to implementation of departmental and company strategies, leading towards continued professional growth in a dynamic organization. The candidate must be a college graduate who is highly motivated, organized, entrepreneurial and can work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.What we are looking for:
- Act as liaison between investors and internal business stakeholders such as traders, legal counsel, quality control, accounting, treasury and servicing departments. Especially works closely with the Trading Desk to address any issues with mortgage loan allocations and trades to ensure prompt resolution of issues and timely settlements.
- Responsible for primary relationship management with investors; establish timelines for due diligence review and settlement deliverables.
- Negotiate non-disclosure agreements, trade confirmations, purchase confirmations, and purchase and sale agreements related to whole loan sales and mortgage servicing rights sales transactions.
- Manage a team of Transaction Managers responsible for executing and completing the teams’ daily responsibilities and trade settlements.
- Coordinate the execution of bailee letters and the shipment of collateral files to the investors’ custodians, while ensuring all necessary releases from interested parties are obtained.
- Monitor due diligence process to ensure timely follow up with internal & external business partners for resolution of data and collateral defects preventing the sale of the loans as well as ensure all data delivered to the investor is accurate and complete while all loans meet the trade parameters.
- Review and approve final funding population with investors and facilitate the settlement process including the repricing of the trade, execution of closing documentation, reviewing the funding schedule for accuracy, compiling mortgage loan schedule data, and communicating settlement funds to warehouse lenders and to the treasury department.
- Coordinate and monitor the servicing transfer process between the investors and the servicing department as well as ensure any issues that arise are addressed and resolved timely.
- Prepare / review monthly management reports.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree, in business administration, finance or related field. JD degree a plus.
- Minimum 15 years in the residential mortgage industry with experience in Capital Markets transaction management, contract finance and due diligence.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience reviewing and negotiating legal contracts related to Capital Market transactions.
- 7+ years of management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal, communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal/external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and perform in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision.
- High level of motivation and accountability.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel with ability to create ad hoc reports and analyses using functions such as nested formulas, lookups, pivot tables, etc. as well as experience with SQL.
- Strong Powerpoint skills, including ability to prepare and summarize data in slides and present confidently in management.
- Extensive understanding of origination processes, underwriting guidelines, servicing and regulatory compliance.
- Proactive in identifying problems and opportunities for improvements.
