The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to provide leadership and expertise in the design of high-performance, sustainable buildings with a focus on decarbonization, electrification, and pursuing net-zero carbon emissions. Candidates will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams internally and externally to envision and implement innovative environmental design solutions that optimize energy efficiency, facade performance, daylighting, thermal comfort, and life cycle carbon reduction strategies.
Responsibilities:
Project oversight: lead the design and analysis of building envelopes, facades, and enclosure systems to maximize thermal performance and energy efficiency.
Lead staff on and conduct advanced simulations and modeling for daylighting, glare, building science, natural ventilation, renewable energy integration, and life cycle assessment.
Manage project and project tasks for financial forecasting and billing in collaboration with the accounting department.
Develop strategies to reduce embodied and operational carbon emissions throughout the building life cycle.
Ensure compliance with green building rating systems, Passive House, and others.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to integrate sustainable design principles from concept to construction.
Foster a collaborative environment and promote knowledge sharing among team members.
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships. Present results and recommendations to clients.
Identify and act on opportunities for new projects and business expansion.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Science, Architecture, Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of building codes and standards related to energy efficiency.
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
LEED AP, ILFI accreditation preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of Passive House concepts and standards preferred.
Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $100,000 - $130,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Illinois State Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful Illinois State applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Illinois State or perform the position from Illinois State. Similar positions located outside of Illinois State will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by Illinois Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
