The company has more than 500 talented employees and operates in Roanoke, Virginia.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>Primarily responsible for assistance in daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing processes for manufacturing of night vision system. Including but not limited to: optimization of manufacturing processes, implementation of cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination), review/disposition of night vision systems and components, and training production employees to improve work processes and product quality, work to minimized or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory and production issues.</p><p>A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment. Have an understanding and skills in effectively applying Six-Sigma tools to benefit the organization and customers. Additionally, the candidate will be versed in Lean tools and their application to reduce waste. This is a hands-on engineering technician position. The individual can expect to spend >70% of their time engaging directly with the factory teams on the shop floor to be most effective. Candidate will perform other duties as assigned.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Associates degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) or equivalent related work experience</li><li>2+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment </li><li>Strong analytical abilities and trouble-shooting techniques</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Capable of performing process engineering tasks proportionate to their experience.</li><li>PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.</li><li>Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.</li><li>Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.</li><li>Experience training others</li><li>Ability to obtain Security Clearance</li><li>Must be able to comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, Company Policies and Procedures </li><li>Able to work 2nd shift.</li></ul><p>Preferred Skills:</p><ul><li>Experience with review/inspection of mechanical assemblies, optics and/or soldering</li><li>Experience writing MS Access queries.</li><li>Proficiency with statistical analysis software: Minitab, JMP, SAS . . .</li><li>Six Sigma certification</li><li>Ability to support the organizational culture and build morale.</li><li>Experience in the following areas are a plus… Night Vision Goggles, Thermal Imagery Equipment, Optics, Conformance Testing to Mil-Stds</li><li>Experience with various forms of deposition processes (e-beam evaporation, sputtering and wet etching processes)</li><li>Experience with glass fiber draw or other glass forming operations.</li><li>Experience with grinding and polishing operations</li><li>Experience with brazing operations</li><li>Experience with ultra-high vacuum equipment</li></ul><p>#LI-AZ1</p><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.</p>
