Summary
Spire is seeking a Large Commercial / Industrial Business Development Representative for the Gulf region. The incumbent develops and maintains key client accounts; develops and maintains an inventory of clients' projects and project statuses; sells the benefits, programs, and processes that support the strategies of Spire Gulf; strives internally to understand and successfully share benefits, programs, processes, and to externally understand the technical advantages and disadvantages of equipment clients use; and diligently records and tracks client information for the benefit of the department and company.
Additionally, we are looking for an individual with a technical background who can effectively communicate and comprehend the technical aspects related to the equipment and solutions offered by Spire. This individual should possess strong technical acumen to engage with clients on technical discussions and provide insights into the technical advantages and disadvantages of various solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain routine contact with assigned, existing large commercial and industrial customers for the purpose of identifying sales opportunities related to replacing, upgrading or adding gas fired equipment.
- Generate and provide cost analysis and rate of return calculations to customer on fuel choices for new and replacement equipment as part of a sales presentation.
- Proactively investigate new commercial and industrial projects and provides natural gas sales solutions and information to potential new customer.
- Research and investigate information on specialty equipment, as customer requirement’s dictate.
- Present contract options to existing and new customers based on a comprehensive knowledge of gas supply, contracts, equipment, competitive alternatives, and customer’s energy requirements.
- Record and track customer contacts, sales opportunities, and results.
- Collaborate with internal departments to develop competitive analyses.
- Manage the opportunity pipeline through regular account management, surveying connected load, negotiating, and ensuring compliance with contracts.
- Collaborate with internal partners that support growth and economic development, bridging the onboarding process from Request to Proposal, contract negotiation, contract implementation, onboarding, and ongoing account management/customer support.
- Provide a high level of customer service to key accounts, trade partners, and industry organizations.
- Cultivate external relationship development through participation in various external organizations, as assigned, and through collaboration with internal Gulf economic development team.
- Exercise attention to detail and care in providing and securing information; including good judgement and discretion while negotiating with key clients. Requires accuracy and attention to detail when analyzing, preparing, and presenting proposals.
- Proficient in sales and negotiations techniques. Requires a thorough understanding of Spire Gulf requirements for main and service line extensions and Business Development policies and procedures.
