Job Summary
UT Southwestern is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) as an integral part of our clinical care team. This full-time RRT position will work collaboratively with our clinical caregivers, patients, and families to improve and maintain ideal lung health for all ages (adult, geriatric, and neonatal). As a valued member of our Respiratory Care team, you will be applying and monitoring medical gases (excluding anesthetic gases) and environmental control systems, mechanical ventilatory support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care procedures, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation related and limited to respiratory care. Experience and Education
- Two (2) years of critical care preferred.
- A.A.S Graduate of accredited program in respiratory care (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- License by the Texas Medical Board
- Registered by the NBRC
- Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Specialty areas may have increased certification/license requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care.
- NRP is required to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Job Duties
- Administer therapy according to departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrate decision-making skills in patient assessment and plan of care based on desired outcomes of therapy, clinical data, consultation with physicians and progress of the patient.
- On one’s own initiative, assist in writing procedures or giving in-services recognized as necessary by the individual. Perform technical procedures and operate equipment with a high level of expertise.
- Maintain knowledge of infrequently used equipment and ordered patient therapeutics. Assess patient and family's knowledge deficit
