About the Role

Weee! is looking for an experienced IT Systems and Database Engineer to increase our operational efficiency and productivity for internal business partners and automation systems. Their primary responsibility is to manage our IT infrastructure, including virtualization, systems, services, and databases. This role covers DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, Monitoring Systems, storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), virtualization environments on VMWare and Proxmox Virtual Environments (PVE), Windows and Linux Servers, MS SQL and MySQL Databases across our offices and warehouses, including Weee’s Robotic Automation IT infrastructure. 

Responsibilities

• Manage the Robotic Automation IT infrastructure, systems, database, and applications.
• Deploy and manage observability systems to monitor and gain insight into the performance and operational success of IT infrastructure, systems, databases, storage, and networks.
• Deploy, maintain, and support on-premise and cloud-based virtualization infrastructure, systems, and databases across corporate offices and warehouse sites.
• Manage SAN and NAS Infrastructure for virtualization infrastructure such as Synology and Ceph Storage.
• Migrate and optimize virtualization platforms, including VMWare, Proxmox, and OpenNebula.
• Manage the maintenance and performance of database systems.
• Optimize database performance and upgrades, including monitoring and evaluation of all database patches and service packs. 
• Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies with a focus on PIT recovery.
• Assist in setting up clustered Microsoft SQL Server Environment.
• Create design documentation and standards across infrastructure systems, virtualization, and databases across local offices and warehouses.
• Create diagrams and flowcharts of distributed systems.
• Perform database modeling, design functions, and create and maintain database ERD diagrams.
• Create project plans for applications, virtualization infrastructure systems, and database projects.
• Take and analyze packet captures between interprocess communications of applications and systems.
• Troubleshoot and analyze network and storage issues.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in on-premise and cloud virtualization, storage, systems/servers, databases, and monitoring systems, including:
• Knowledgable with IP, TCP/UDP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, 802.1Q (VLAN), ICMP, SNMP, SMB, AFP, NFS, iSCSI, SMTP, NTP, LDAP, Active Directory, and SAML.  
• Proficient with hands-on experience in Ethernet, fiber channel, optical fiber termination, and verification.
• Experience deploying, managing, monitoring, and supporting virtualization platforms.
• Experience deploying, monitoring, tuning, and supporting MS SQL and MySQL Databases.
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving application, virtualization, systems, and database problems.
• Strong experience supporting end-users and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and lead projects independently.
