Marrakech is hiring compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide direct care and support to people with developmental and physical disabilities in residential and community-based settings.
As a Direct Support Professional, you will help people develop daily living skills, increase independence, participate in their communities, and lead safe, meaningful lives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in human services, disability services, direct care, caregiving, residential support, community support, or behavioral health.
Experience as a DSP, direct care worker, caregiver, residential counselor, personal care assistant (PCA), home health aide (HHA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), behavioral health technician, or human services professional is helpful, but not required. Paid training is provided.
Starting Pay
$19.28-$20.51 per hour, based on the position, program assignment, and applicable qualifications.
What You’ll Do
As a Direct Support Professional, you will:
• Provide respectful, person-centered direct care and support to individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, meals, and daily routines.
• Support individuals with grocery shopping, meal preparation, household tasks, budgeting, recreational activities, and community participation.
• Promote independence, personal choice, skill development, community integration, and achievement of individual goals.
• Implement individualized service plans, behavioral support programs, teaching strategies, exercise programs, dietary instructions, and other recommended supports.
• Assist with health-related needs and administer medications after obtaining required certification.
• Safely assist with mobility, lifting, transfers, repositioning, and adaptive equipment according to each person’s service plan.
• Complete accurate documentation, including progress notes, communication logs, electronic records, medication records, incident reports, and safety documentation.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
• Follow agency policies, program procedures, and required health and safety practices.
Direct Support Professionals are essential employees who help ensure continuity of care and support. Depending on the assigned program, the position may include daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Connecticut Driver’s License.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.
• Ability to complete required training and obtain necessary certifications.
• Ability to safely assist with lifting, transfers, mobility, and personal care when required by the program.
• Dependability, patience, professionalism, and a commitment to treating every person with dignity and respect.
Related direct care, caregiving, healthcare, behavioral health, disability services, or human services experience is preferred but not required.
Required Training and Certifications
Employees must obtain and maintain applicable certifications within the required timeframe, including:
• Connecticut Department of Developmental Services Medication Certification
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Physical/Psychological Management Training, or PMT
• Connecticut Public Service License, when required by the program
Marrakech provides required training and ongoing professional development.
