The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, missile and combat system equipment. The mechanical team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon’s CORE principles. ME’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, hardware integration, and electronic modules, pedestal and power and cooling systems. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

The Radar Department is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer interested in hardware design to join our team. The position will primarily support design, development, and production focused on radars and supporting structures, electronic modules, power, and cooling sub-systems. The key responsibilities for this position include contributing to technical problem solving and implementing solutions in the development of new hardware in a team environment.

This role is located in Marlborough OR Tewksbury, MA (On-site).

What You Will Do:

  • Mechanical design and documentation of hardware and systems utilizing engineering tools, and MS office suite.
  • Contribute as part of a small team during product development, part and drawing creation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
  • Creatively apply mechanical engineering knowledge to efficiently solve complex design problems and make sound and rationale data oriented technical conclusions in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Provide factory and supplier support
  • Collaborate with other mechanical engineers, designers, and structural / thermal analysts, as well as engineers from other disciplines to support business objectives of the organization

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with CAD software or CREO

Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings, evidenced through class projects, professional internships, or academic research.
  • Strong aptitude for efficient and disciplined process execution, coupled with the flexibility to adapt and tailor processes as necessary for task requirements.
  • Proven ability to apply academic engineering principles to identify and resolve design challenges.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering design processes.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, capable of managing workloads effectively to meet deadlines and our business objectives.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Tolerance Analysis and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
