The Senior Risk Analyst performs various analytical and operational tasks within Wholesale Risk that significantly impact the Company's success. This role is responsible for providing thought leadership on risk issues and for managing, completing, and assisting in major projects related to various Risk Management functions, including collateral exchange, EMIR, and CFTC reporting analysis and reporting as it relates to the market risk/operations risk.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create scenarios based on knowledge of business and translate them into spreadsheet analyses
  • Ability to translate high-level discussion of problems with manager into a complete analysis factoring in whatever related variables are involved
  • Model strategies, create scenario and risk analyses, and create a summary report for management review
  • Produce Daily Risk, Energy Management Credit, and EMIR/CFTC reports
  • Create ad hoc analyses as they related to counter-party trade restrictions, calculation of independent amounts, etc., to support real-time trading strategies
  • Analyze and identify operational challenges and present findings to management at various levels
  • Oversees the creation of modeling to support trading strategies, taking ideas from inception to result with minimal direction
  • Leads various operations risk meetings and understands the key issues affecting trading operations. Leads the meeting discussion and identifies follow-ups for meeting participants
  • Manages a critical risk process, collateral, and regulatory requirements. Understands the key issues of the process, adjusts internal procedures accordingly, develops internal reports for management, and apprises management of any issues or concerns
  • Perform updates to the Energy Trading Risk Management System related to price indices, products, strategies, ICE mapping, etc.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or a related major is required
  • Master's degree is a plus
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work in the energy industry or related field
  • Forecasting, energy industry research, and team building are highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage both internal and external customer relationships
  • Strong understanding of energy commodity markets (physical and financial)
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Experience in Energy Trading and Risk Management Systems (ETRM) and coursework in database management is a plus

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $81,000- $121,000 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
