Job Title: Sr. Incident Response – Security Engineer
Clearance Required: Active Secret, US Citizen
Work Location: Kearneysville, WV or Portsmouth, VA & Remote (hybrid 1-2 days onsite, as required)

Alpha Omega is looking for a focused, driven self-starter to work in a highly dynamic, cross-functional, complex IT environment. The Security Engineer (SE) will be responsible for maturing the operational and engineering functions within the Incident Response Service Line.  The SE will report directly to the Cyber Operations (CyberOps) Project Manager (PM), while independently leading and or conducting enterprise and system-level Security Engineering tasks.

The successful candidate should have experience performing IR-related tasks; expert verbal and written communication skills; ability to interpret NIST and DoD guidance; and experience with industry tools, such as STIG viewer and ACAS.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the main liaison for day-to-day incident response between the client site and the Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC).
  • Ensure timely response to any cyber incident to minimize risk exposure and production down time.
  • Assists with incident response activities to include evidence collection, event correlation and threat containment.
  • Drives collaboration with IA and business system’s stakeholders during incident response.
  • Tracks and documents incident response actions and experiences to include after-action reports, metrics, and lessons learned.
  • Performs other Network Security/Information Assurance tasks as assigned.
  • Leads/Participates in system/security policy and standards development, including writing guidelines, standards, procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Develop, review, and reconcile IA security policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform research to ensure knowledge proficiency remains aligned to technologies and industry best practices.
  • Engage constructively within the team to identify and resolve challenges or exploit opportunities.
  • MUST possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. MUST be comfortable discussing (both verbally and in writing) status and risks/project impacts with all levels of management and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret NIST and DoD guidance

          Required Qualifications:

          • Five (5) years of related experience
          • IAT Level II Security Certification, in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M
          • Experience with cyber security incident response protocols (e.g., identification, impact assessment, containment, remediation, evidence handling, technical reporting, etc.) and safeguarding information.
          • Experience with industry tools, such as STIG viewer and ACAS

            Preferred Qualifications:

            • IAT Level III Security Certification, in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program; CISSP or CASP CE
