Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center is seeking a motivated individual to fulfill the role of Senior Forensic Clinician in the Statewide Transitional Residential Program (STRP). The STRP is a 17-bed (12 male, 5 female), unlocked, residential, forensic program, and is the highest level of care with the CONREP system (CAs Conditional Release Program for individuals transitioning from the Department of State Hospitals back into the community). Clients are referred from county CONREP programs throughout the state and the STRP program serves as a transitional, 90-day, step-down program between the state hospital and the community.
The Senior Forensic Clinician must be fully licensed with the State of California by the Board of Psychology. The Senior Forensic Clinician coordinates the implementation of a forensic treatment and supervision plan within the interdisciplinary team. The responsibilities of the position include providing required core services such as individual and group treatment, collateral contacts, crisis intervention, annual staffing logistics, and case management services to an adult forensic population. The Senior Forensic Clinician also provides the court with 90-Day Progress Reports, Annual Review Reports, Restoration to Sanity Reports, and Revocation of Outpatient Status Reports as indicated. The position also involves collaborating with attorneys and providing expert witness and material witness testimony as needed. This position involves scoring risks assessments such as the HCR-20 and PCL-R/SV, and incorporating the results of these assessments, as well as those of other psychological assessments, into treatment and supervision planning. The Senior Forensic Clinician also participates in all routine and emergent team meetings. Although the Senior Forensic Clinician operates more autonomously than other Forensic Clinicians, they continue to participate in supervision, albeit with less oversight and as a more seasoned practitioner in the group supervision setting. The Senior Forensic Clinician may also provide clinical supervision to interns and practicum students as assigned. The Senior Forensic Clinician also assists with any other duties or projects as indicated by the Program Director or Program Coordinator.
