The Opportunity
This position works at our flagship cafeteria in our Abbott Park, Illinois location. You will be a part of Lake County Site Operation and within the larger division of Global Engineering Services.
What You’ll Work On
The Foodservice Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining the food, non-food and beverage inventory at the unit including taking a physical inventory, ordering food and beverages according to established par levels, check-in incoming stock for damage/credits, verifying quantities ordered matches quantity delivered, putting away all the stock in designated storage areas, and keeping all of the storerooms, coolers and freezers clean, neat and organized. This position is also utilized for general food service work including providing guest service and meals that satisfy and exceed our guests expectations, assuring that high levels of cleanliness, sanitation and food safety are met, assisting with preparation, cooking, delivering, and serving quality meals to our guests, assisting with catering and cashier duties and any other designated projects that the cafeteria management requests.
Primary Function:
- Provide guest service and meals that satisfy and exceed our guests' expectations.
- Assure that high levels of sanitation and safety are met.
- To accurately and efficiently receive and store food and nonfood items while maintaining records.
- Complete sanitation of all work areas (freezer, coolers, floors, etc.) and proper food rotation.
- Assist in helping other areas in the operation when needed.
Major duties and responsibilities:
- Checks deliveries and special-order shipments for quality and quantity.
- Receive and store inventory according to ServeSafe & LC Health Department Guidelines.
- Communicate with Culinary Team regarding expiration dates, damaged or out of stock inventory.
- Responsible for inspecting invoices for accuracy, signing off and delivering invoices to Head Cashier.
- Communicating with vendors the need for credits.
- Responsible for overall organization and cleanliness of storage facilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of Two years' experience in inventory control
- Quality control issues, guest service needs/desires, work team related issues, production levels
- Knowledge of ordering, receiving and proper food storage
- Follows FIFO procedures.
- Loading/lifting, bending, turning, reaching/handling, twisting, rolling/pushing, sterilization of knives, all equipment (steamers, ovens, registers, etc.)
- Daily interruptions include frequency of equipment/environmental noise, telephone/alarms/timers, co-workers/guest interaction. Responsible for self.
- Lift, carry, push or pull weights of more than 20 pounds/9 kilos on a regular/daily basis
