ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct students in all aspects of 14 CFR Part 147 required Airframe and Power Plant Certification course including classroom lectures. Lead and direct students in the completion of hands-on lesson-associated lab projects by demonstration and supervision. Evaluate and grade student’s performance in Subject Areas taught. Provide relevant information and feedback to the director regarding student progress in projects, including grading and record keeping. Prepare 14 CFR Part 147 Airframe and Powerplant certification course lessons, associated training aids and equipment for demonstration to, or for use by students. Research and order materials for training aids, equipment, and lesson-associated lab projects. Advise and recommend to the director regarding the purchase and procurement of equipment, materials, and supplies or use in the training. Teach, or assist in teaching, class, or projects for General, Airframe, and Powerplant subject areas approved to teach (per FAA approved LU AMTS OFFICIALS LIST, on file in the director’s office). Oversee and supervise assigned lab technician to the subject area. Assist in training new Staff/Faculty in the use and operation of training aids and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by the director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
FAA mechanic certification with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings
Experience in aviation maintenance field or equivalent in commercial, mission or military environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree (4 year)

Be proficient in understanding of 14 CFR Part 147 as it relates to required practical projects of an FAA approved AMTS.
Be proficient in the field of aircraft technology, maintenance, and operations.
Be proficient in ability to understand and follow procedures set forth in typical aircraft maintenance documentation and manuals.
Be proficient in making arithmetic calculations related to aircraft maintenance.
Based on visual inspections and performance checks of aircraft equipment, be able to make accurate judgments and decisions related to safety.
Be proficient in analyzing symptoms of improper operation of aircraft systems and follow troubleshooting procedures to determine cause of improper operation.
Communication and Comprehension
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent computer skills especially with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
Regularly required to hear and speak in to effectively communicate orally.
Required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
Regularly lift 20 or fewer pounds.
Required to crawl under, over, and around engines and cockpits.
Must be able to use all types of hand and power tools.
