The Lead Controls Technician is responsible for configuring, deploying, and supporting controls systems across airport environments, with a primary focus on backend system setup, integration, and communication between field assets and centralized platforms.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring systems are properly configured, connected, and operational, including server setup, data mapping, and PLC integration. While much of the work is performed remotely, this position also supports field activities as needed for system commissioning and troubleshooting.

This role is best suited for individuals with controls experience who enjoy working across both software and hardware environments, with the ability to own system-level setup and support from initial deployment through ongoing operation.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Configure and deploy backend systems to support airport equipment and monitoring platforms
  • Set up and manage servers, including loading software and establishing system architecture
  • Establish communication between servers and field devices, including PLC-connected systems
  • Map and configure data points to ensure accurate system monitoring and reporting
  • Support PLC programming activities, including basic programming, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Design and support controls solutions for new system implementations, including PLC-based monitoring systems
  • Utilize networking knowledge to configure and troubleshoot system connectivity, including IP-based communication
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues remotely, with occasional on-site support as needed
  • Collaborate with field technicians and engineers to ensure successful system deployment and operation
  • Provide technical support for system performance, reliability, and integration across multiple assets
  • Document configurations, system changes, and technical issues clearly and accurately

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree with seven (7) years of experience in engineering OR equivalent*.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% as needed to support system deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to obtain passport
  • Have a Valid Drivers License
  • Obtain a passport and pass a TSA background check
  • Must be able pass airport background checks and get badged at airports

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with controls systems, including building automation, HVAC controls, or industrial automation
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including IP configuration and system communication
  • Experience configuring servers, software environments, and system integrations
  • Familiarity with SQL or other data-related tools
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Experience working in a field service or system integration environment
  • Ability to work independently and own system setup from initial configuration through deployment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues

*Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role is a hybrid of remote and field-based work. The majority of responsibilities are performed in a remote or office environment, with periodic travel to customer sites for system commissioning, troubleshooting, or support.

Field work may involve exposure to active operational environments, including airport settings, and may require walking, standing, climbing, and moderate lifting.

Pay Range:

$64,500.00 - $103,500.00
