About the role

PET Radiochemists are responsible for the daily production and quality control of routine PET drugs products. Completes production of PET drug products for both clinical and clinical research studies. Completes setup of automated PET synthesizer modules and analytical chemistry equipment. Assists in basic maintenance of automated PET synthesizer modules and analytical chemistry equipment. Completes and maintains appropriate documentation associated with manufacture of PET drug products and radionuclides under Food and Drug Administration's Current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines for PET drug products. Completes and maintains appropriate documentation associated with production of PET drug products and radionuclides for clinical research under USP general chapter for PET drug products. Assists in the development of PET drug products and radionuclides. Provides instruction and training to other PET radiochemistry staff as needed.

This posting is for two separate positions in a newly formed quality department within PET Radiochemistry.  One position will focus on quality control, the other on quality assurance duties.  

Quality control duties will include determining the suitability of incoming materials, setup and use of analytical chemistry equipment, daily quality control of routine PET drug products, determining the acceptability of productions for release, completing retrospective testing on productions post-release, involvement in quality control method validation and post repair instrument verification.

Quality assurance duties will include qualification and monitoring of all vendors and suppliers, development and maintenance of all documentation, review of batch records for completion and accuracy, ensuring adequate and timely training for all PET radiochemists, conducting regular internal audits and self-inspections, involvement in deviation/OOS and CAPA investigation, and review and approval of change control events and processes.”

 

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or nuclear medicine technology certification, or pharmacy certification. Must have a strong background in analytical chemistry, preferably organic chemistry. Experience working with radioactivity such as in a PET radiochemistry laboratory, nuclear medicine environment, or commercial nuclear pharmacy specializing in PET drug production. Strong word processing and database skills specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Additional Qualifications

Two years experience in production, manufacturing and handling PET drug products is preferred. Experience assisting in the development of PET drug synthesis procedures is preferred. Prior experience teaching, training, group interaction and presentations.
