Description

Erie Neighborhood House, a community-building agency empowering Chicago’s low-income and immigrant families and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society is seeking experienced, bilingual professionals to serve as a Clinical Therapist. The role is focused on providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and clinically effective support to participants impacted by community violence, offering comprehensive assessments, counseling, and crisis intervention to address extensive trauma and promote healing.

This role will work with Scaling Community Violence Intervention (CVI) for a Safer Chicago (SC2).  SC2 is an expanding network of donors, anti-violence practitioners, and community stakeholders dedicated to enhancing CVI in the neighborhoods of Chicago most affected by violence. New Life Centers is proud to partner with six local community-based organizations- Central States SER, Enlace, Hope Culture, Erie House, Universidad Popular, and Beyond the Ball- on Pathways 2 Peace. Together, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in our community by serving 75% of the highest-risk individuals in the area over the next five years. Our comprehensive approach includes street outreach, case management, education, employment, and behavioral health services.

Position Responsibilities:  
•    Helps maintain counseling and mental health support services for participants enrolled in Pathways 2 Peace and their family members.  
•    Responsible for providing professional psychotherapeutic services rooted in evidence-based practices and psychosocial support to individuals and families.
•    Responsible for maintaining clear, empathetic, and culturally sensitive communication with participants, including trauma-responsive scheduling that respects participants’ time and circumstances. 

•    Conducts thorough assessments, crisis intervention and follow-up services.
•    Provides treatment planning, safety planning and case management for children, youth and families.
•    Responsible for making ethically and educated decisions when providing mental health support to participants.
•    Provide and complete needed documentation for clients and program.
•    Travels between Erie sites and partnering agencies when needed to provide direct services.
•    Attends school meetings, and home visits for participants as needed.
•    Makes referrals to other supportive agencies as appropriate.
•    Assists with developing, facilitating and evaluating therapy groups, providing guidance and support to facilitators as needed. Provide clinical and reflective supervision of at least 1 graduate level intern.  
•    Assists in development and assessment of the intern program.  Attends mandatory meetings related to intern supervision. Responsible for data collection, program evaluation and timely reporting on direct services and referrals completed.
•    Represents Erie Neighborhood House to the public and participates in community meetings/events.
•    Attends monthly department, all staff, funder and other required meetings.
•    Attend professional development applicable to field and population being served on an ongoing basis.
•    Provide In House training to staff, interns, partnering agencies when needed
•    Performs other duties as required.
For SC2

  • Adheres to stipend guidelines and submits required paperwork on time.
  • Engages effectively with project partners and collaborates to address challenges. Follows data tracking requirements and meets documentation deadlines. 
  • Submits all finance information by established deadlines. 
  • Attends all trainings and orientations with partners and funders. 
  • Communicates project information effectively with staff and participants
  • Participates in regular meetings with internal team and collaborators 
  • Responds promptly to requests from the Program Director, Program Coordinator, Data and IT Specialist, and Finance Manager.

 Requirements:

•    Masters in Social Work or Counseling; at least 2 years’ experience in the social work or counseling field; LCSW or LCPC preferred.
•    40-hour Domestic Violence Training Certificate preferred
•    Clinical experience with domestic violence, community violence, child abuse, mental health obstacles
•    Strong organizational and effective time management skills 
•    Bilingual English/Spanish required
•    Excellent written and interpersonal skills with fluency in both English and Spanish
•    Knowledge and appreciation of cultural issues and differences.
•    Proficient with Micro
