Summary:
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid oversees the Public Service Federal Work Study Program PSFWS. This program connects Federal Work Study (FWS) award recipients to meaningful, part-time employment in the public service sector (nonprofit and government organizations). The incumbent will oversee the administration financial aid with respect to the PSFWS programs and be responsible for student and site recruitment, student awarding, hiring, timesheet management, payroll tracking, and routine correspondence with community partners. This is a grant funded position.
Essential Functions:
Public Federal Work Study Program and Off Campus (Community Service Tutors) FWS Support Coordinate with HR, Career Center, Center for Community Engagement and Service to engage with community partners to garner participation in AU job fairs and student recruitment engagements. Drafting, posting, updating and managing position availability and descriptions. Serve as liaison to all public service sites. Provide training and guidance on supervision, time reporting and payment.
Awarding and hiring: Verifying eligibility and updating FWS awards for the 100-150 students employed in public service and off campus community service positions. Coordinate with community partners throughout the academic year and summer to ensure all applicable paperwork and requirements are met for timely and efficient hiring.
Counseling and Awarding: Provide financial advice and counseling to both prospective and enrolled students, parents and AU Administrators regarding the public service FWS process, how wages are applied, budgeting and financial planning each semester. Explain federal/institutional regulations, methods of compliance, procedures, and policies. Understand and inform students of all principles underlying the system of needs analysis, methods of information collection and verification. The duties are handled to facilitate the financial aid process.
Financial Aid Training and Case management: Recruit, train and supervise a full-time Financial Aid Counselor.
Track and reconcile timesheet reporting and resolve discrepancies.
Conduct Site visits to ensure compliance.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-Time.
Salary Range:
$59,000-$69,000 annually.
Required Experience and Experience:
2-4 years of relevant experience.
Financial Aid administration/counseling required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree or equivalent.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
