Boeing’s Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and Measurement Systems team is seeking an Associate or Mid-Level Measurement Engineers to join our team in Tukwila, Washington.

The Puget Sound NDE and Measurement Systems is an Engineering Team responsible for supporting design, development, production programs, and In-Service. The team provides certification and qualification services across the value stream for NDE and Measurement. The team works on commercial and defense aircraft like: 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787, KC-46, B1B, and P-8 as well as development programs such as SLS, CST-100, 777X, and MQ-25. The team also conducts research and development with internal stakeholders and external customers. This team spans the entire product life cycle from research and development to active airframe support.

This team supports diverse non-destructive evaluation and measurement technology applications for commercial and defense products produced or supported by the Boeing Company.  There is an opportunity to experience different business unit needs and support a diverse selection of commercial and defense aircraft in different phases of their production lifecycle. By working on this team an individual is able to impact programs across the enterprise and have an opportunity to grow a broad network across all of Boeing.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences, and be a self-starter. There must be a desire to do Measurement and have a general base of Measurement/Metrology knowledge and/or experience. In addition, understanding of basic analysis techniques to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes will be required.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products
  • Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
  • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
  • Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
  • Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
  • Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
  • Works on research projects with a heavy focus on Measurement technologies directed at improving inspection speed and accuracy in manufacturing processes
  • Develops, tests, and deploys measurement solutions for various inspection applications
  • Analyzes inspection data and develops automated analysis routines

  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Linear algebra, Geometry, Numerical methods, 3D geometry, statistics and computational methods
  • Experience in programming / software development (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++)
  • Experience with measurement systems (e.g., photogrammetry, coordinate measuring machines, laser tracker, laser radar, laser alignment, portable measurement tools, structured light)
  • Experience with metrology, measurement or measurement analysis
  • Experience in aviation and/or aerospace
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical
