About the role

At Sinch AB, we are seeking an outstanding leader to join us as the Vice President of Data Governance and Fabric Ops. In this pivotal role, you will lead a dynamic, global team focused on data governance, data fabric, data warehousing, and data analytics.  You will ensure alignment with Sinch's overarching goals and create a culture of data excellence and innovation. With a keen focus on data integrity, governance, and strategic utilization, you will be vital in shaping our data landscape to support Sinch's global growth and success. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for data governance and data fabric capabilities by constantly keeping up with industry data trends and emerging technologies . 
  • Global Team Management: Lead and manage a diverse, global team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and inclusivity. 
  • Data Integration Excellence: Oversee the integration of data sources, validation, processing, and distribution, while maintaining optimal accuracy and quality of Sinch data products. 
  • Innovation and Collaboration: Collaborate with strategy, marketing, product, and engineering teams to implement advanced data applications, identifying the need for new data sources, and guiding consistent and performant extension of the data fabric in support of key strategies. 
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Develop and maintain data governance processes, lead the Senior Steering Committee, and oversee the functioning of the Data Domain committees, ensure cross-functional engagement across all data domains, and collaborate with legal to ensure compliance with privacy regulations. 
  • Master Data Management: Together with Data Domain leads, establish and oversee governance processes and standards for managing master data, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business objectives. 
  • Data Fabric: Lead and manage the planning, implementation, and operation of the data fabric, with eventual consolidation and rationalization of redundant tools where appropriate.  
  • Data Warehouse: Develop and execute the global data warehousing strategy that meets data sovereignty and privacy requirements, while ensuring appropriate data availability and accessibility across all of Sinch. 
  • Data Analytics: Collaborate closely with global functions, product development, engineering, and marketing teams to understand their data analytics needs and requirements, enabling data-driven decision-making through timely and accurate data insights. 
  • Data Quality Assurance and Hygiene: Implement data quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability and accuracy of data used for analytics, AI, and other use cases. At the same time, help eliminate redundant, obsolete, and transient data in accordance with regulatory and legal requirements. 
  • Data Lineage: Create and maintain data lineage processes, defining roles and responsibilities related to data ownership and governance. 
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive efficiency and industry best practices in data management, supporting efforts to consolidate data delivery platforms. 
  • Analytics Strategy Alignment: Ensure alignment of data analytics strategies with the overall business objectives, assisting in the development of data-driven product strategies and marketing campaigns. 
  • Reporting and Communication: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor progress, efficiency, and impact of the data strategy and program. 
  • Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Embrace cultural sensitivity, adapting management and communication to engage effectively with diverse teams and individuals. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement proven methodologies for driving continuous improvement in data operations and analytics. 

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or Master’s Degree in business administration, data science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. 
  • Data Governance Experience: Proven experience (10+ years) in leading large-scale data governance and transformation initiatives in complex organizational structures and diverse cultural environments. 
  • Data Fabric Expertise: Prior experience building and managing a modern data fabric (see responsibilities)  
  • Global Team Expertise: Extensive knowledge in leading global data programs and best practices, with a deep understanding of complying with regulatory frameworks like GDPR, CCPA, etc. 
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership and people management skills, inspiring and motivating large multi-discipline teams operating in virtual environments. 
  • Communication: Outstanding communication and stakeholder management across all organization levels. 
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinker adept at translating business objectives into actiona
