PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ever feel like you’re running a complicated orchestra, but instead of violins, you’re coordinating dump trucks and concrete mixers? We need a master conductor for our public works capital projects.

This is the Project Manager – Capital Projects Construction role, where you will become the backbone for maintaining our city's public rights-of-way.

You will prepare, manage, and coordinate multiple, complex construction contracts focused entirely on street infrastructure rehabilitation and preservation. If pavement condition data is your secret superpower, you’ll analyze surface distress and structural surveys to recommend appropriate strategies and prepare program contracts. You'll handle the financial blueprint, reviewing and approving progress payments for capital construction projects and monitoring the project budget. This means preparing construction contract documents including plans, drawings, specifications, and estimates.

We are looking for someone who sees a road in need and thinks, "Challenge accepted." You need strong foundational knowledge of materials associated with asphalt and Portland cement concrete infrastructure. You will be coordinating the work of others, maintaining computerized records, and working effectively with contractors and citizens daily. This role involves considerable outdoor work to observe construction projects in all weather conditions, so a strong commitment to safety is crucial. Come help us keep the city rolling smoothly.

 

Hiring salary $72,312 - $90,390

Salary to be commensurate with experience.

The Capital Projects Construction/Project Manager prepares, manages and coordinates multiple and complex construction contracts for capital projects related to street infrastructure rehabilitation and preservation.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and manages construction contracts for major street rehabilitation projects including street overlay and concrete rehabilitation and preservation programs
  • Coordinates and manages street preservation and maintenance contracts including chip seal, slurry seal, crack seal and concrete street preservation
  • Reviews and approves progress payments for capital project construction project contracts and represents the Street Division at meetings with contractors, other departments within the city and other outside agencies
  • Prepares reports on construction activities and coordinates with other divisions and other agencies on infrastructure rehabilitation and preservation projects
  • Coordinates the work of employees in the collection of pavement condition data
  • Reviews and analyzes pavement condition data and recommends appropriate rehabilitation and preservation strategies and organizes and prepares program contracts
  • Coordinates collection and maintenance of various types of roadway infrastructure condition data required for the pavement management system including surfa
