Inside the Role
Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA’s core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.
This manufacturing engineering intern is responsible for leading process improvement opportunities, line balance activities, and installation of plant manufacturing equipment. Challenge yourself on a daily basis with production support and continuous improvement projects. Lead process and manufacturing engineering initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA
- Participate in in-plant quality improvement activities
- Identify opportunities for improvement in manufacturing activities
- Analyze manufacturing plant build constraints and provide suggestions to relieve schedule complexity
- Lead, design, and implement process design and improvements by utilizing process engineering tools (AutoCAD, Vision, Excel, etc.)
- Design the sequence of assembly operations, the layout and arrangement of equipment for parts and vehicle assembly and fastening (e.g., riveting, welding, screw driving, applying adhesives, etc.), labeling, sorting, and packaging.
- Support design engineering by resolving agreed-upon manufacturing problems caused by engineering or assembly
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s/PhD Program from an accredited college/university or have graduated within the last 12 months.
- Curious and inquisitive with a "go and see" mentality
- Sense of Urgency
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change.
- Passion for driving positive outcomes for our customers is required.
- Passion for Automotive or Trucking
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous mechanical or assembly knowledge
- Customer orientated with the drive to develop customer-focused solutions.
- Experience with Autocad Inventor, Solid Works, or Pro-Engineer is a plus.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Industrial, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Majors Preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
