Victory Programs is an established non-profit organization based in Boston that provides housing, and innovative and comprehensive direct care services, to individuals and families with very specialized needs. The majority of our clients are homeless, experiencing substance use disorder and are also struggling with a chronic health condition such as HIV/AIDS or diagnosed mental illness. Twenty percent are women caring for children, and 75 percent of Victory Programs' clients are homeless upon admission. 

Victory Programs' overall goals include providing our clients with the tools to remake their lives, and to help them return to the community to live independently. We support our clients and their families as they work toward transforming their lives: many are working to recover from addiction, stabilizing and improving their health, and re-building their families; others desire to have a healthy baby. All need to develop life and job skills, seek educational opportunities, find appropriate housing and employment, and establish a web of support that will sustain them as they move toward independence. As a result of participating in one of our programs, many clients are able to make the transition from being homeless and unemployed, to having a stable job and living in their own home, quite possibly for the first time in their lives. Victory Programs has programs located in several Boston neighborhoods.

Description:

As part of the Facilities team, this role maintains building operations and ensures that our sites are safe, cleanly, and functional. The Facilities Maintenance Technician III reports to the Director of Facilities. 

Essential Functions:

• Routine building maintenance such as snow removal, grounds maintenance, and janitorial functions; 
• Repair facilities equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc; 
• Light to moderate plumbing repairs such as removing blockages, fixture replacement, addressing leaks, installing new faucets/shower components, and replacing press fittings; 
• Light to moderate electrical repairs such as installing light fixtures, outlets, switches, and troubleshooting larger electrical issues;
• Complete carpentry projects which include installing cabinets, repair/replace trim, repair/replace stair treads, as well as other items as assigned; 
• Ability to install various flooring which may include: ceramic tile, click and lock flooring systems, as well as glue down flooring; 
• Complete preventative maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems as well as basic repairs of the same; 
• Sheetrock installation and finishing; 
• Exterior and interior painting; 
• Ensure work sites are maintained in a clean and safe condition as well as removing all tools, materials, and debris when a project is completed; 
• Complete special projects as assigned; 
• Address and/or report potential safety hazards as identified; 
• Mentor and provide on the job training to Facilities Maintenance Technicians; 
• On-call and emergency response as part of Victory’s rotating coverage model. 

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing maintenance and facilities work, or completion of a satisfactory vocational program and relevant non-facilities experience; 
• The ability to lift 50+ pounds; 
• Valid MA driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and access to a personal vehicle; 
• Ability to act with flexibility and adaptability as well as a willingness to work with a diverse client population; 
• Mission oriented mindset and an understanding that our work is often non-linear in order to meet the needs of our clients; 
• Diligence to ensure that all jobs are completed in a high-quality and timely manner.

Position Type: Monday-Friday (40 hours/week w/paid lunch break) - 7am to 3pm. 

Rate: $32.50 per hour
