We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Nazeri Brain Fluid Translational Imaging (BraFTI) Lab located in the Biomedical Research Center, East Imaging Building. The Lab focuses on developing imaging methods to characterize brain fluid compartments, tissue microstructure, and neurofluid dynamics in health and disease.The candidate will report to Dr. Arash Nazeri and Dr. Jennifer Strahle. Assists with research study, experiments, preparation of material, and documentation.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts research experiments and assays.
- Develops and implements preprocessing and quality control pipelines for MRI data from the Redefining Chiari study. Manages and organizes data for the study.
- Analyzes multimodal MRI images.
- Conducts preliminary data analysis and visualization.
- Evaluates research results, reports findings and discusses project outcomes with staff involved.
- Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
- Coordinates tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Coordinates research project with other institutions and investigators.
- Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
- Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Performs literature research on specified topics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong computational and programming skills.
- Proficiency in data management and analysis tools.
- Background in biomedical imaging or a related field.
- Experience with MRI data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures, conduct research and record findings, with a focus on pursuit of advanced education in field.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in laboratory operations or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 6 years.

$16.76 - $28.51 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Questions
