About the Role
The Market Medical Director (MMD) will serve as a key member of the market leadership team. They will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer but also have dual reporting to the Market GM. The MMD’s primary responsibility is to provide clinical and operational oversight to the clinical staff in the market and provide indirect medical care and clinical advice to patients served by TailorCare. This role also acts as a leader for the market’s interdisciplinary team accountable for serving the market's patient population.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct & Indirect Care
- Provide consultative recommendations for complex patients within the population
- Provide clinical leadership, oversee quality and execute clinical operations within the market
- Responsible for providing the means, structure, and environment to most effectively utilize the MSK resources available to TailorCare patients across community and partner programs
- Mentor and guide associate PT managers in reviewing reports to improve population health for patients within the market
- Oversee manager and supervisor chart reviews as well as complete targeted comprehensive chart reviews of providers in order to ensure high quality care of patients
- Accountable for markets performance against key clinical and operational performance metrics
- Remain current in the knowledge of orthopedics, PT, and other MSK-related types of care, managed care principles, and new clinical developments and technologies
- Oversee and participate in the development, documentation, implementation, and interpretation of local medical policies and procedures
- Participate in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care provided to patients
- Participate in the resolution of medically related grievances
Team Performance Management
- Supervise clinical managers and individual clinicians, including monitoring and conducting regular 1:1s, proactively providing performance feedback, reviews and mentorship, overseeing provider education, in-service training, and orientation
- Clinical hiring manager for the market and partners with HR to recruit market clinical teams (PTs and RNs), ensuring the pursuit of talent with the appropriate mix of clinical skills and behavioral qualities to retain a high performing team
- Oversee provider education, in-service training and provider orientation in the market
- Provide education and share best practices: TailorCare trainings, additional staff education, and coordinate education sessions with outside agencies
- Assume oversight responsibility for all components of clinical management in the market
- Assume responsibility for the administration of all clinical activities in the market
Interdisciplinary Team Leadership
- Collaborate with leaders in outreach, product, and clinical operations to escalate issues and ensure the delivery highest quality care at the best cost
- Participate in clinical excellence education to providers in the market
- Participate in weekly clinical leadership team meetings and other leadership meetings as necessary
- Lead and deliver TailorCare presentations to clinical teams
- Participate in and lead as necessary in market clinical team meetings, including case reviews that engage the full team, teaching on relevant clinical topics, and training on new protocols and workflows
- Act as a local leader and advocate for the TailorCare model with community providers and delivery systems and other community partners or potential business partners
Health Plan and Community Relations
- Build and enhance community relationships with targeted hospitals, PCPs, community MSK providers
- Join meetings with Chief Medical Officer of targeted Health Plans and current plan partners as needed
