This role will help define, design, build, and maintain software solutions which advance developer effectiveness at Toast and provide a world-class experience to engineers across the business.

We’re growing a developer-focused team and looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help design and implement test automation solutions in this space. You will be part of Toast’s Technology Foundations organization, and be part of a matrixed team whose priority is to support holistic testing for our point-of-sale application, including enhancing an existing Selenium/Appium-based framework and building out an Espresso powered framework. These frameworks will be used by dozens of teams across Toast. To ensure their usability, you will directly partner with software engineers, SDETs, QA engineers on teams around the world that are building next generation POS capabilities for restaurants.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

• Design, build and maintain tooling & infrastructure to make software testing and development at Toast a delight
• Drive execution of complex technical projects with many stakeholders
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to set and evolve the vision for testing automation
• Connect with product teams to ensure that our team builds solutions which support their most important development workflows
• Review code to ensure technical implementation meets functional requirements
• Mentor and guide your peers, while also learning from their diverse experiences
• Partner with Toast infrastructure and platform teams to enable greater developer productivity

• You have 8+ years of software engineering experience in object-oriented languages, including 4+ years mobile development (Android)

What add-ins do you have*? (Nice to Haves)

• Experience writing automated tests and building frameworks to increase the expressiveness and conciseness of tests.
• Familiarity with tools such as JMeter, Gatling, Postman, RestAssured for API testing.
• Familiarity with tools such as Robolectric and Espresso for Android testing or Selenium/Appium, Playwright, Cypress for UI testing.
• Experience with with development technologies like Gradle, Docker, Jenkins, AWS

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$142,000—$227,000 USD
