Campus Life at UMBC significantly shapes the student experience. From getting involved in campus events to joining student organizations, from exploring diverse cultures to learning about spiritual practices, from shaping new leaders to serving local communities, from fraternity and sorority bonds to Student Government board meetings – students create their Campus Life. Students are the reason for it, they make it happen, and they create it with their passions, ideas, dialogues, and programs. Position Overview:

The Coordinator for Student Organizations; Fraternity and Sorority Life creates opportunities and coordinates programs that support student involvement and leadership. The Coordinator serves as a front line advisor and point of contact to
our 200+ student organizations, with specific focus on fraternities and sororities at UMBC.

Telework:

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for overseeing and advising Greek letter organizations. This includes leadership development, skills training, hazing prevention, and wellness initiatives. This position also manage budgets, reviews policies, and coordinates recruitment efforts under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Student Organizations. Additionally, this collaborates with campus partners, supports Campus Life Engagement's Anchor Programs (Welcome, Retrievers!, Homecoming, Quadmania, etc.),  and represents the department on university committees.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree.

One year of relevant student affairs experience. Knowledge of general operations, organization, and structure of student organizations. Knowledge of general operations, organization, and structure of fraternity/sorority life.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Masters degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education.

Membership in a fraternity or sorority or experience working or volunteering for a fraternity or sorority is preferred. Understanding of emerging issues in higher education, particularly in fraternity and sorority life. Experience with assessment and data-driven decision-making is preferred.
