About the role

The University of Maine System is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst I to join our Enterprise Solutions team. This position plays a key role in supporting the development of data reporting tools and insights that guide strategic and operational decision-making across the system. 

The BI Analyst will work closely with team members, IT professionals, and functional-area end-users to design, build, and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations that serve a variety of campus and system-level data needs. Salary and Benefits: The hiring range for this full-time, regular position is $55,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience. For current UMS employees, the salary will also take into consideration existing pay for transfer or promotion. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Will consider a hybrid schedule for the right candidate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Data Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience presenting data analyses through various mediums such as dashboards, visualizations, and reports
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation, as well as a solid understanding of core database concepts
  • Experience with data querying, aggregation, and working with large data sets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle or SQL Server for data analysis and reporting
  • Familiarity with Microsoft BI, PeopleSoft PS Query, or similar reporting tools
  • Experience working in a higher education environment and an understanding of higher education data, systems, and reporting needs. 
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy standards, and best practices for handling institutional data
