Football Athletic Equipment Coordinator

Position Summary

In this position, you will:

  • Receive and issue athletic apparel and supplies.
  • Determine equipment needs and specifications, make budget recommendations, research products, meet with manufacturer representatives and vendors, and initiate paperwork to purchase athletic equipment to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Monitor the correct equipment fitting and protection of athletes to prevent injury and protect the University from liability.
  • Keep abreast of current NCAA rules and regulations regarding equipment and enforces such.
  • Maintain computerized inventory system, including conducting seasonal and yearly inventories.
  • Oversee the ordering/issuance.
  • Organize equipment identification and storage.
  • Coordinate proper laundering, dry cleaning, reconditioning and clothing repairs.
  • Supervise the daily activity of student employees and student managers.
  • Assist with all aspects of programs on-field practices.
  • Organize all locker room needs for both MSU student athletes and visiting team athletes.
  • Pack, load, unload and set up equipment and supplies for team trips.
  • Make presentations on equipment to organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Physical Education, Athletic Administration or related field with relevant coursework in business; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in equipment management, purchasing and fitting at a Division I school; knowledge and experience working with computers and software applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job also requires certification by the Athletic Equipment Managers' Association or completion of certification within two years of hire.

Desired Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of 2 years of experience (3 years preferred) at the collegiate level.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Front Rush.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
