The Role:
Pathology South is seeking phlebotomists with well-developed phlebotomy and specimen collection skills to join our team. The role requires well developed communication, prioritisation and teamwork skills and is patient and consumer focused. The role works across the hospital as well as our outpatient and satellite facilitate.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection services in the outpatient and inpatient setting
- Prepare consumers for phlebotomy and specimen collection which includes explaining procedures to clients.
- Work within a team environment
Key Skills:
- A Certificate 3 or equivalent Diploma from a registered tertiary institution, or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- The successful applicant will have well-developed phlebotomy skills and have a good understanding of the principles of standard precautions.
- The successful applicant will have good organisational skills and be able to prioritise workload while working under pressure and in a work environment subject to change.
- Have high level interpersonal skills, including empathy and sensitivity and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders such as consumers, and clinical staff.

The Team:
Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Pathology South team provides phlebotomy and specimen collection services in the outpatient setting at Wellington Clinic and satellite collection centres at Glenorchy, Kingston and Rosny. The service also supports inpatients areas at the RHH. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 25.84 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary:
$71,661 to $99,455 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- A Certificate III, or equivalent Diploma, from a registered tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work
