A Brief Overview
Responsible for the development and oversight of Avera's overall inventory management and distribution strategy/practices across the Avera system, fully utilizing the Avera Distribution Center and Avera's distribution partners, by providing guidance on distribution strategies, inventory management best practices and industry standards, in order to make improvements and adjustments as necessary to ensure the proper flow of product into the facilities as well as to help reduce product disruptions and enhance cost savings opportunities for Avera. This manager is also responsible for the development and oversight of the Avera's warehouse management technology and associated applications. This position will be required to integrate and collaborate with internal and external partners of Avera, by providing leadership and guidance on operational enhancements and best practice utilization of this software, as well as ensuring the warehouse management system is functioning at its full capabilities. This system inventory manager will represent Avera Health's supply chain and serve as a subject matter expert who provide guidance and oversight to inventory management best practices, pandemic supply oversight, system purchasing forecasting, conversion/standardization coordination, facility stocking guidance, and inventory oversight of Avera's primary MedSurg partner, which are all necessary to ensure the correct products are available when needed by clinicians. This role will establish, direct, participate and support strategic initiatives in the areas of cost reductions, process improvement and quality improvement initiatives. Success of this position requires working efficiently and effectively while collaborating closely with internal partners of Avera and all Avera Supply Chain functional areas to ensure the timely delivery of products.
What you will do
- Develop and implement comprehensive inventory management strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve overall supply chain performance, while tailoring to the unique needs of the healthcare environment, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries of supplies and equipment to facilities.
- Oversee and develop the warehouse management system technology, to ensure best utilization of the software, while continually enhancing software capabilities to meet the needs of internal and external partners within Avera.
- Utilize analytical skills to evaluate and determine system purchasing forecasting trends, facility stocking guidance, warehouse inventory oversight and vendor stocking strategies/capabilities.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure and optimize system inventory management performance, providing regular reports to Supply Chain leadership.
- Lead and develop a high-performing central services team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal supply chain teams and external department leaders to align inventory management activities with patient care objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and coordinate emergency preparedness efforts related to supplies, ensuring hospitals ability to respond effectively to crises and unforeseen events.
- Stay current on health care industry regulations, standards and technology advancements related to logistics and supply chain management.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
