The Role

As a key member of the leadership team, the VP, Market & Business Intelligence will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a high-impact team that is evolving deep, foundational market research to expand strategic, action-oriented partnership across the business. This role will focus on identifying and unlocking commercial opportunities by partnering closely with Intermediary and Institutional sales teams, as well as other cross-functional stakeholders.

You will lead a small, high-performing team that delivers market intelligence, competitive insights, and strategic recommendations that directly inform go-to-market strategies, client engagement models, and growth initiatives. With significant autonomy, you will help define the team’s future direction, operating model, and influence across the organization. The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Lead with Insight: Oversee the development of research and analysis that goes beyond observation—delivering clear, commercially relevant recommendations that influence business decisions.

  • Shape the Function: Help evolve the team’s mandate, structure, and capabilities to become a proactive, insight-driven partner embedded in the commercial rhythm of the business.

  • Champion the Voice of the Market: Ensure that external market dynamics, client needs, and competitive threats are continuously informing internal priorities and investments.

  • Drive Commercial Strategy: Translate market and competitive intelligence into actionable strategies that support revenue growth, client acquisition, and retention across Intermediary and Institutional channels.

  • Partner for Growth: Act as a strategic thought partner to Sales, Relationship Management, and Product leaders—helping them anticipate market shifts, identify whitespace opportunities, and shape client-centric solutions.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 12–15+ years of experience in financial services, ideally in strategy, market intelligence, consulting, or a commercial leadership role

  • Deep understanding of the intermediary and institutional landscape, including advisor business models, distribution dynamics, and the competitive ecosystem

  • Collaborative approach and know-how for ensuring a comprehensive lens is developed with wide ranging expertise engaged

  • Proven ability to connect research to revenue—translating insights (derived from data) into commercial strategies and business outcomes as well as finding opportunities to bring forward thought leadership

  • Knowledge of market research tools, sources and industry standards

  • Experience working closely with sales and distribution teams, with a strong grasp of how to support and influence go-to-market execution

  • Strong leadership skills with experience building and evolving teams, ideally in a high-change or growth-oriented environment

  • Excellent communication, executive presence and presentation skills—able to distill complex data into compelling narratives for senior stakeholders

  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and ambiguity, with a curious and builder mindset and a bias for action

  • Excitement for exploring new ideas and questioning norms to better understand problems and opportunities

  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred

The Market Intelligence & Commercialization team brings deep industry knowledge and relevant market and competitive insights within the intermediary and institutional financial markets to systematically identify and act on both near- and long-term commercial opportunities. The team is evolving and expanding its scope as a strategic partner to the each part of Fidelity Institutional—helping to shape commercial strategy, uncover growth opportunities, and ensure Fidelity stays in the forefront of a rapidly changing market. This is a unique opportunity to help define the future of the team and its impact across the organization.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000-264,000 USD per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
