POSITION CONCEPT
This position is a key leadership position within the Peoples Gas System (PGS) Finance organization and has direct responsibility for the forecasting, long-term planning, reporting and business strategic analysis of PGS and Seacoast. Oversees complex financial analysis for Florida Gas Operations’ business value drivers and performance and communicates results to Executive team and Board of Directors. In addition, this key position is responsible for providing business planning leadership for PGS efforts to successfully operate the gas delivery system in a changing environment. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge and extensive experience in developing budgets, business cases, financial plans & analysis, and utility accounting and regulatory practices.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads PGS’ and Seacoasts’ annual forecasting and budgeting process and ensures integrity of long-term strategic financial plan. Interfaces with key leaders in the business to ensure accurate representation of inputs and assumptions. (30%)
2. Oversees Business Planning’s participation in the development of financial reports and analyses in the areas of budgets, forecasts, financial plans, regulatory surveillance reports, testimony filed with regulators, statistical, cash flow projections, and business forecasts. (25%)
3. Leads PGS analytical analysis, including formulation and implementation of methodologies applied in the financial evaluation and performance of PGS operations. Provides financial support, information and analysis to manage costs to meet profitability goals. Perform statistical, financial, benchmarking and pricing analyses for use in evaluating the potential financial impact of various projects, business ventures, accounting strategies/treatment and to aid in effective decision-making. This includes supporting the evaluation of potential PGS mergers and acquisitions, primarily regarding load and operational financial issues. (20%)
4. Leads the development and communication of financial materials to the Executive team and Board of Directors. (15%)
5. Manages performance stewardship and the integration of key analytics and reporting tools to facilitate communication of financial and operational performance, activities, costs, and trends; leads the development of new analytics to determine and quantify key financial drivers and relationships that will assist in prioritization of actions across the Company. (10%)

Direct: 2 Managers
Indirect: 8 Finance Professionals
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Key interfaces with upper and senior management; and with other departments and affiliates. In addition, this position must utilize influence and cooperation, and provide oversight of, employees in other departments to accomplish responsibilities.
Key External: External contact with FPSC auditors/staff, consultants, attorneys.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; or a Bachelor degree in a non-finance discipline with an MBA or related accounting experience.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: CPA, CFA or other professional finance certifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required: Must be a strong facilitator with excellent communication skills and financial acumen. Must be proficient with financial analysis techniques, including budgeting & forecasting and cost accounting concepts. Must be able to translate profitability or operational efficiencies goals into a course of action. An understanding of financial reporting, and a working knowledge of accounting standards promulgated by the FASB, FERC and other regulatory bodies. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred: Proficient in SAP and BPC.
Related Experience
Required: Minimum of 8 years of budgeting & forecasting, cost control and/or utility accounting experience.
Preferred: At least 3 years in an electric or gas delivery budgeting & forecasting role. 3 years of Financial Statement budgeting and/or reporting experience.
Supervisory Experience
Required: Minimum four years of supervisory or leadership experience.
