Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing's Phantom Works (PW) Space group is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA.

The successful candidate must be willing to stretch beyond their comfort zone and to take intelligent risks to achieve objectives. The position is best suited to individuals who are self-starters, highly motivated, work well in fast paced multi-discipline team environments, and able to provide frequent inputs to management for the best interest of the business and ability to make rapid decision making with minimal input for both technical and project management needs. The position is responsible and accountable to the Strategic Technologies Manager.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify highly-complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

  • Lead others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  • Lead analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  • Lead analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

  • Lead, develop designs and conducts research that results in new requirements management methodologies or result in unique approaches that mitigate assessment/review findings

  • Create and implement strategic approaches for program and business area decisions

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 20+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 18+ years with a Masters OR 15+ years with a PhD

  • Experience working in a lab environment

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working directly with customers

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
