JF&CS is now seeking a Full-Time Dental Assistant for our Ben Massell Dental Clinic.

DESCRIPTION:

The Ben Massell Dental Clinic is a fast-paced state-of-the-art dental facility with over 100 volunteer dentists providing quality dental care to individuals in Metro Atlanta. The clinic has 15 operatories and the absolute latest in dental equipment. The clinic has an opening for a full-time dental assistant. PURPOSE:

Responsible to the dentist on duty. Facilitates an efficient flow of patients to and from the clinic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned per Supervisor/Director.

1. Provides chair-side assistance to the dentist, dental residents and dental students when treating patients, including seating patients, preparing, and arranging dental materials and instruments, giving post-operative instructions to patients and/or parents, and preparing room for the next patient.
2. Keeps all operatories clean; maintains an adequate stock of materials for the attending dentist.
3. Informs supervisor immediately of any deficient equipment or of any unusual requirement of a particular dentist.
4. Maintain knowledge of each attending dentist, dental residents and the (DCG) dental students’ procedures, outlining the dentist’s setup and techniques so that rooms will be properly prepared prior to the dentist’s visit.
5. Knowledgeable of guides and maintenance records for equipment care.
6. Knowledgeable of front desk procedures and telephone procedures.
7. Uses sterile techniques and proper procedures in cleaning instruments and sterilization processes.
8. Knowledgeable of digital xrays.
9. Takes all necessary radiographs within a reasonable time limit.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor/director and lead assistant .
11. Check all patient’s records before and after dental treatment.
12. Record all dental treatment including dental procedure codes and all x-rays taken.
13. Turn on vacuum pumps and water in the AM before the clinic opens.
14. Turn off vacuum pumps and water in the PM after the clinic closes.
15. Follow all rules and protocols (attached).
