Job Description

This position will report to the Marketing Communications Manager. The Internal Communications Specialist will lead daily internal communications for the Americas region of a multinational company.  This position will be responsible for developing content for internal communications, including, but not limited to, employee communications, employee/site feature stories, newsletters, internal success stories, intranet and blog content, videos, and employee engagement activities for over 800 colleagues. This position will lead preparation and execution of quarterly companywide town hall meetings, facilitating all aspects of the event, working directly with the executive leadership team.  This role will also provide support for external communications.

Responsibilities:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Generate new internal communications content by soliciting news and information from departments within the business that would be of importance or interest to employees.
  • Write and distribute internal communications, success stories, newsletters, social posts and employee/site feature stories that engage and inspire employees.
  • Survey employees and departmental leaders to refine communications.
  • Work closely with regional human resources and global communications teams to ensure People & Culture plan deliverables are communicated throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with the global communications team and contribute content to BUZZ, the employee engagement platform.
  • Act as lead facilitator for the quarterly town hall meeting attended on-site and virtually by all employees. 
  • Work with the executive leadership team to develop town hall agenda and identify internal presenters.
  • Design captivating and engaging PowerPoint slides for the town hall, while ensuring compliance with brand standards.
  • Support our executive leadership team, including our President, with internal messaging and content, including blogs, notes and stories.
  • Work with the Americas Leadership Team to plan, manage and deliver outstandingly professional and inspiring internal events.
  • Provide advanced proofreading and editing support.
  • Work closely with the global communications team to ensure messaging alignment.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or related field of study is preferred.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, or a related field is required.

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced PowerPoint skills.
  • Proficient copywriting and journalistic writing abilities.
  • Knowledge of AP style of writing.
  • Graphic design skills, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Canva, are preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex, technical information into simple, easy to understand copy.
  • Experience working directly with C-suite executives.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker who can assess and understand situations quickly and clearly.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse global population of employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexible self-starter who can work independently and manage priorities to meet the demands of the job and be comfortable in a matrixed environment.
