Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy company, is seeking a Director of People Operations to join us on our mission of helping people learn. The Director of People Operations will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of the HR processes, workflows, and systems. They will drive the operational excellence of the People team, providing oversight with strategic and operational responsibility for systems and data, analytics, benefits, compensation, immigration, policy, process, and compliance. They will serve as a key leader within the People team, responsible for driving process efficiencies, improving employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with changing laws and regulations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s or MBA preferred
- 7+ years of relevant HR experience with 3 years in a leadership role
- PHR/SPHR or equivalent preferred
- Demonstrated management expertise, both with internal teams and external vendors
- Strong HRIS capabilities (ADP preferred), with implementation experience
- Depth of experience in people data and analytics with an ability to help set and drive an analytics approach at an enterprise level
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills with confident presentation skills with any audience size or level
- Ability to execute practical problem-solving and deal with a variety of variables where standardization is currently lacking
- Excellent business acumen and ability to understand key financial statements
- Demonstrated achievements in coaching, influencing, and problem-solving
- Strong ability to prioritize, complete projects within a deadline, and multi-task with minimum supervision
- An approach to work that involves taking initiative and displaying sound judgment, diplomacy, and discretion
- Strong knowledge of employee data management
- Project management experience with the ability to develop expertise in others
- HR vendor management experience (e.g., benefits brokers, carriers, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery and effectiveness of the employee lifecycle activities (onboarding, transfers, off-boarding, leave management, etc.)
- Oversee people operations and programs including HRIS, systems, compensation structure, benefits, compliance, employment sponsorship, and policy management.
- Work collaboratively with people team and internal partners (legal, finance, recruiting, etc.) to improve people operations processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness to scale with company growth
- Drive informed decision-making using data and metrics, including employee health and diversity & inclusion data.
- Manage employee benefits strategy through execution to drive stronger engagement, including planning, purchasing, and administration in coordination with external benefits consultants
- Oversee and evolve compensation processes and initiatives such as annual merit process, salary range analysis, advise on market comparison for new and existing roles (including executive compensation) and ensure practices align to compensation philosophy
- Manage employee handbook and policies, ensuring our processes are fair and balanced, making Varsity Tutors a great place to work for all global employees
- Partner with legal to mitigate risk and ensure that policies, practices, and employment decisions comply with federal and state employment laws or global labor laws
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor and employment laws and regulations by accurately compiling and submitting data for mandated reporting at the local, state, federal, and global levels; own and manage all affirmative action reporting
- Collect and analyze data and key performance indicators concerning operational effectiveness in the various HR functions in order to develop strategies and tactics for the implementation of consistent
