This opportunity is based in our Lexington, KY office but may consider a remote candidate.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Provides active leadership and direction for the NASFA membership association.
  • Proactively engages in the promotion, outreach and mission of the association.
  • Provides professional management of all association business including:
    • strategic planning and related goal achievements (metrics for the organization);
    • day-to-day operations management;
    • financial planning, management and reporting;
    • development and fundraising;
    • interface with The Council of State Governments;
    • direct support for association board; and
    • professional service and support to current and prospective State and Corporate members.
  • Coordinate with the association Executive Board to formulate and execute programs and events that are beneficial to the membership and enhance the organization's fiscal standing.
    • Specifically, this includes assisting in organizing, planning, managing, and marketing an annual national conference and up to four regional conferences.
  • Responsible for direct communication with Executive Board.
  • Responsible for formulating, drafting, proposing and monitoring Association budgets.
  • Building relationships with multiple departments within each state to promote 3-wide and 3-deep strategic plan.
  • Responsible to work with the Executive Board to develop a masterplan for NASFA association that has a 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year 'lookahead'.
  • Develop and maintain a professional and fun culture within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement annual association work plan to meet the professional needs of the membership.
  • Travel to and participate in all association conferences and activities.
  • Recruitment of new state members, corporate affiliates, and conference sponsors.
  • Retention of existing state members, corporate affiliates and conference sponsors.
  • Direct communication and interaction with state members and corporate affiliates to enhance services and enrich their membership experience.
  • Ensure that all programs, projects and events are professionally managed, marketed and executed.
  • Manage NASFA's annual budget to be beneficial and financially responsible in a non­ profit organization.
  • Ensure transparency is provided for all expenses, budgets, and expense reports.
  • Report directly to President and Executive Board on progress of projects monthly.
  • Oversee committee projects to ensure they follow the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Generate and maintain a documents repository that is available to the Executive Board, organized with a typical folder structure.
  • Interact with state members and corporate affiliates through social media platforms, promoting their involvement within our organization.
  • Handle the day-to-day operations of the association.
  • Staff all committees.
  • Organize an outreach program.
  • Coordinate all association programs, publications and surveys.
  • Produce and distribute electronic communication.
  • Maintain and coordinate the maintenance and update of the website.
  • Manage the associations budgeting and workplan development.
  • Maintain and update database and listservs.
  • Handle invoicing and tracking of membership.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent leadership and visionary marketing skills;
  • Excellent communications skills including written, oral and public presentations;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Proficient in social media platforms to promote NASFA association and our partners;
  • Strong interpersonal skills including self-awareness, sensitivity and valuing others;
  • Ability to listen and being open to new ideas and new technology; and
  • Dedication to public service with an unfailing commitment to act with civility, be nonpartisan in performing CSG duties, and be a responsible steward of member and donor funds;
