PCS Nitrogen Fertilizer, L.P. has opening for Sr. Engineer, Process in Geismar, LA.

 

What you will do:

  • Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, work daily to accomplish plant objectives in the priority areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Reliability, Production, Efficiency, Cost Reduction and Innovation.
  • Act as process engineering SME by mentoring and reviewing work from junior process engineers as needed.
  • Perform and/or initiate effective and timely engineering and technical studies to troubleshoot known plant problems, predict impending problems, and optimize plant operations in priority areas.
  • Perform and/or contribute to thorough process reviews, Hazard and Operability Studies (Hazops), and “What If” analyses on current operations and on proposed changes to plant equipment, processes, and systems via the plant Process Safety Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Perform and/or contribute to Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) and incident investigations.
  • Promote and contribute to the successful implementation of projects by providing accurate, timely, and thorough design input / design review.
  • Promote and contribute to site Manufacturing Excellence and Operations Driven Reliability (ODR) processes.
  • Identify and facilitate implementation of production, reliability, efficiency, and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Research and evaluate industry technology advancements and other plant experiences and innovative ideas.
  • Develop and maintain networks with other Nutrien and Nitrogen industry plants.
  • Ensure proper loading of vessels during catalyst, desiccant, packing, and gauze changes.
  • Act as the project engineer for capital projects, which includes the responsibility for coordinating the design team to achieve overall design accuracy for all engineering disciplines associated with the project.
  • Performs detail reviews of process engineering reports to predict and monitor plant performance and efficiencies.
  • Contributes to Process Hazard Analysis and formulates corrective actions to align site risk with Corporate guidance documents.
  • Reviews and Initiates plant changes through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Liaise between plant Operations and Original Equipment Manufacturers to review and develop process conditions to be used in the design of new equipment.
  • Develops Safe Operating Control Limit (“SOCL”) database with cause, consequence, and corrective actions to be used by operators.

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 5 years of post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in an engineering-related occupation.
  • Background check required.
